Professional Development
Opportunities

Valerie Smith accepts the Virginia Scholars Award.
Teachers constantly strive to learn new and more effective instructional techniques. As prospective teachers, the standards should be no different. A great way to find out about new strategies is to attend professional conferences and workshops. In addition, the Teacher Preparation Program at CNU requires each student to attend at least three workshops or conferences prior to completion of the program.
Workshops and conferences can provide you with great information and free material for your classroom. Also, each conference and workshop will provide a certificate of completion that can be added to the student teaching portfolio to show professional training and growth. Below are links to local organizations and affiliations that provide professional development training through conferences and/or free workshops. Take a moment to check out some of these sites to begin your quest of becoming a more knowledgeable and effective teacher.
*Please note that all conferences and workshops are subject to change. They are not planned by or conducted by the Office of Teacher Preparation at CNU. *
