 Additional
Benefits of the Five Year Program
A
fifth year master's degree
In most undergraduate teacher licensure programs, students
spend four and a half years earning the bachelor's degree
and the teaching license. However by planning on an extra
summer, fall, and spring semester of study, you can earn both
a bachelor's and Master of Arts in Teaching degree, as well
as a license to teach in the State of Virginia.
120
hours in liberal arts and science study
Current reformers in education are demanding that students
have more solid content knowledge, in addition to learning
skills effective for teaching. Your bachelor's degree will
be in a liberal arts or science major.
An
opportunity to earn a salary during the fifth year
To help offset the costs of the fifth year, and to give students
more hands-on experience in a school system, CNU and
Newport News staff will offer you employment opportunities
during the fifth year . This might involve tutoring, substituting,
or being a teacher assistant. |
